Privacy Policy: Sister to Sister Journal
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Life's Journals ("we," "us," "our") operates Sister to Sister Journal (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Your name and email address, and your invited co-Member's name and email address, at signup
- Your password (stored securely in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plaintext password)
- The content you create in your Journal: prayers, letters, journal entries, reflections, photos, and any other material you or your co-Member choose to enter
- Payment information (processed directly by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number)
Information collected automatically:
- Basic technical information such as your browser type and general usage patterns, used to operate and improve the Service
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account and your shared Journal
- Process your one-time payment and confirm your access
- Send transactional emails, such as invite emails to your co-Member and account-related notices
- Provide customer support
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your Journal content (your prayers, letters, or photos) for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We do not access, read, or review the content of your Journal entries for any reason, including customer support or technical troubleshooting, except where required to comply with a valid legal order, subpoena, or other legal obligation. If you report a problem, we investigate using our application's technical records (error logs, database structure, and payment status) and any screenshots or descriptions you provide, never by opening or viewing your specific journal entries. Any member of our team found to have accessed a customer's personal Journal content outside of these circumstances, without your explicit request and permission, will be subject to immediate termination.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on third-party providers to operate the Service, including for database and file storage, email delivery, and application hosting. Each of these providers has its own privacy and security practices, and processes data on our behalf under our agreements with them. We are not responsible for the independent privacy or security practices of these providers beyond our agreements with them. If you would like more information about the privacy practices of any of these third-party providers, you may submit a request to support@lifesjournals.com.
Payments are processed directly by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. You can review Stripe's privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
4. How Shared Journal Data Works
Because each Journal is shared between two Members, certain content you enter may be visible to your co-Member by design, for example, entries in shared or "dual-answer" sections. Some content, like your own individual prayer entries, is visible only to you unless you choose to share it. Please review the Journal's structure so you understand what is and is not visible to your co-Member before entering sensitive information.
We are not responsible for what you or your co-Member choose to do with information once it is visible to you within the shared Journal, including screenshotting, forwarding, printing, exporting, or otherwise sharing that content outside the Service. Once information is disclosed to another person, whether inside or outside the app, we have no ability to control its further use or distribution, and any such sharing is entirely your (or your co-Member's) choice and responsibility, not ours.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database restricting each Journal's data to its own Members. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your account and Journal content for as long as your account remains active. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, contact us at support@lifesjournals.com. Because a Journal is shared between two Members, deleting one Member's account may affect the other Member's access to shared content; we will explain the specific impact when you request deletion.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for use by adults 18 years of age and older. It is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 18.
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@lifesjournals.com. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account or provided us personal information, we will delete the account and associated information in accordance with COPPA.
8. Cookies
We use only the minimal cookies/local storage necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@lifesjournals.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
